Can I vape when golfing?

It’s getting sunnier every day, so if you’re partial to the game of golf yourself, or you’re eager to visit some professionals at a tournament, it’s essential to follow the rules so you don't rock the boat. Professional golf courses have dress codes and other regulations in place that help keep their members rotating on the course in an orderly fashion. These regulations vary from place to place and because some golf clubs can be quite exclusive for new members, it's important to make you leave the right impression.

So let's say your out on a course and you ask yourself this question - can I vape on a golf course? Well, for the most part the answer to this question is yes.

Clubs will allow their members to vape of their own free will so long as they don't slow the rate of play or obscure the vision of other players. Smoking on golf courses is a highly contested topic because it can contribute to a concerning litter problem. Vaping however is far more benign and as long as you don’t leave any sort of mess behind on the course custodial staff will likely take no concern over you vaping your favourite flavours.

It is worth noting however that certain tournaments will have varying rules regarding vaping. This is often because of the way that excessive vapour can block the field of view for those in the crowd watching professionals and how it can impede the field of view for cameras that film professional golfers. Even if you believe everyone loves the smell of your vape juice, vaping in large crowds may distract them from the sport they have paid to watch. That's why we'd advise you to be patient and put off vaping until you've got a bit more breathing room.

Other courses -  like the famous Masters golf contest in Augustus Georgia - have rules in place that prohibit a number of items from being brought into the tournament. In addition to phones and cameras, no electronic devices are allowed on the course. Other prohibited items include flags, banners, signs, food and drink, and large bags. Vaping at contests is again a rule that often changes from venue to venue, for example, at the Ryder Cup, electronics are not prohibited.  It’s advised that if you feel unsure about vaping you either ask the custodial staff at the entrance or research the spectator guide beforehand about policies and practices.
